New XD Linear Motors deliver greater power than conventional models and five times better subject-tracking performance. Two of these new motors and a newly developed algorithm drive the large focusing lens group quietly, quickly, and precisely. The high-speed performance of these advanced bodies can be utilized to capture subjects in nature and dynamic sporting events.

Amazing resolution and bokeh in G Master
High design standards ensure excellent resolution right to the edges. Three fluorite elements reduce chromatic aberration. Spherical distortion is controlled during design and manufacturing to achieve the highest bokeh quality. Optional 1.4x and 2.0x telephoto lenses are available, achieving excellent resolution and contrast, even at 800mm.

The lightest in the world at just 2,895 grams
The optical design with three fluorite elements reduces the number of elements at the front of the lens barrel, achieving a weight of just 2,895 grams. Magnesium alloy components contribute to the weight reduction, providing incredible portability and ease of use, and the ideal balance allows for agile and simple operation without a tripod or monopod.

The dust- and moisture-resistant design provides the reliability needed for outdoor use in harsh conditions. The magnesium alloy exterior of the lens, tripod mount, and body components achieves high durability while reducing weight. Additionally, the front lens element features a fluorine coating to help keep it clean.

The full-time DMF allows manual focus with a simple rotation of the focus ring, even in AF-C mode. Optical image stabilization is integrated with Mode 3, which includes an advanced algorithm for easy framing and excellent stabilization when shooting sports.
