Designed for the street, travel, and visual storytelling
At the heart of the system is a dedicated CMOS sensor with no color filter and no interpolation, where each pixel directly records brightness. This results in fine detail, smoother tonal transitions, and more robust performance at high ISO sensitivities. The Ricoh GR IV is supported by a GR ENGINE 7 processor optimized to work with this brightness information, achieving files with rich gradation and a uniform sharpness from edge to edge.
GR 18.3mm F2.8 lens, detail right to the corners
It features an 18.3mm lens equivalent to 28mm in full frame, with an F2.8 aperture. The optical construction consists of 7 elements in 5 groups and incorporates aspherical elements to improve performance across the entire frame and reduce distortion.
High ISO as an expressive resource
The standard ISO range is from 160 to 409600. At higher sensitivities, noise tends to be perceived as fine grain, which is useful if you're aiming for a more organic aesthetic in nighttime or indoor scenes. Black and white photography can benefit from this texture when you want a more "analog" look. In Auto ISO, the range is 160 to 25600.
5-axis stabilization with 6-step correction
It includes sensor-shift stabilization that compensates for angular and rotational shake, as well as camera shake, with an effectiveness equivalent to 6 stops. This expands the margin for handheld shooting while maintaining detail.
Fast hybrid AF and Snap modes for instant reaction
It includes hybrid autofocus with phase detection in the image plane and contrast detection. In addition, Snap modes with preset distances help you shoot instantly, which is very useful in street photography and situations where you don't want to miss the moment.
Total control of your look without a computer
It shoots in 14-bit RAW DNG and develops in-camera to save JPEGs with Image Control, contrast, clarity, tone, and grain effects adjustments. It includes monochrome options like Solid and Grainy to vary the character without relying on external editing.
Integrated red filter for contrast
It integrates a red filter into the lens unit to modify tonal separation, for example, by darkening skies and increasing contrast with clouds, or by giving more prominence to certain elements. It can be activated very directly so as not to disrupt the flow of the image.
Electronic shutter speed up to 1/16000 s
It allows shooting at F2.8 in bright outdoor conditions without an ND filter and opens up creative options such as playing with high ISO in bright light to emphasize grain.
Connectivity and storage for fast workflow
It includes approximately 53 GB of internal memory and a UHS-I compatible microSD card slot. It also offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB-C charging, as well as DisplayPort video output in alternate mode. Furthermore, the Ricoh GR IV facilitates a streamlined workflow for selecting, developing, and sharing without always relying on a computer.
Compatible accessories to expand the system
It supports the GW 4 wide-angle converter for a 21mm equivalent, using the GA 3 adapter. It is also compatible with the GF 2 external flash for low light or fill light.
