With a focal length range of 16 to 35 mm, this high-performance lens expands the current SL zoom lens portfolio and takes it into the wide-angle realm.

Along with the typical Leica lens, with exceptional imaging performance at any distance and aperture, this lens offers fast, near-silent autofocus. To achieve this, only a small element moves to focus. A specially designed drive concept, including a stepping motor and linear positioning, enables fast, precise, and near-silent focusing without changing the overall lens length.

The newly designed optical system of the Super-Vario-Elmar-SL 16-35 f/3.5-4.5 ASPH. contains a total of eighteen elements in twelve groups. These include two aspherical lenses to correct monochromatic deviations and three glass elements with anomalous partial dispersion to correct chromatic deviations.
