When not in use for camera control, they function as a conventional external monitor connected via HDMI or SDI depending on the model, with screen orientation adjustable from the menu.

Camera control from the monitor

The main screen displays Sony’s BIG6 system, which groups the six most commonly used shooting parameters: frame rate, ISO, shutter speed, ND filter or aperture, Look, and white balance. Tapping each parameter allows you to view or modify it directly.

Alongside the touchscreen are physical controls: a camera-synchronized record button, a focus control knob, a multifunction dial, assignable buttons, and direct access to menu pages. The combination of touch and physical controls allows for precise operation without taking your eyes off the image.

With compatible lenses, you can adjust autofocus and motorized zoom from the monitor itself, via wired connection, or wirelessly with compatible transmitters, giving you the freedom to place the camera on a crane, gimbal, vehicle, or any hard-to-reach position.

Construction for outdoor filming

The body is made of rigid aluminum with dust and moisture resistance, designed for outdoor production. It supports BP-U series batteries and USB Power Delivery, with additional options depending on the model, allowing for both studio use and long days on location.

How to choose the right model

The choice depends primarily on screen size and the type of connection your workflow requires. The 7-inch model is ideal when working with SDI infrastructure or when you need a larger screen for directing and focus control. The 5-inch model is more suitable for camera mounting, where size and weight are critical factors.
