The XF 50mm f1.0 R WR lens achieves optimal control of spherical aberration with 12 lens elements in 9 groups with one aspherical element and two ED elements. Using the lens at or near the maximum aperture of f1.0, this lens can produce an astonishingly narrow depth of field. By adding a precisely designed rounded diaphragm, it can produce large, smooth bokeh. This means the user can create portraits that have an almost 3D quality with wonderful edge-to-edge sharpness with surprising simplicity.

in low light With such a wide maximum aperture, the XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR lens offers more options when shooting in challenging low-light conditions. You can achieve fast shutter speeds to freeze motion, yet retain detail-rich low ISO results using the wider aperture lenses. Utilize the excellent high ISO performance of the X series cameras and you gain incredible versatility.

Precise autofocus

Having a lens with a maximum aperture of f1.0 allows autofocus to operate at a luminance of -7EV, more than any previous XF lens. With such a low EV number, the user can shoot in near darkness with fast and accurate autofocus. The lens has a powerful DC motor and can take advantage of phase detection autofocus and on-sensor Face/Eye AF features. Another addition is a manual focus ring that is 8 times more precise than any previous XF lens. The user can achieve precise focus from minimum to infinity when the lens is in its super shallow depth of field. To do this, the lens utilizes 120 degrees of rotation on the focus ring and works with the X series’ Focus Peaking and Focus Assist modes.

Construction of

The lens measures 103.5 mm (4.07 in) in length and weighs 845 g (1.86 lb), making it quite compact and portable. With weather sealing in 11 locations, the lens is protected against moisture and dust, as well as being able to operate in temperatures down to -10 °C.
