Based on the latest optical design technology, this lens incorporates 14 elements arranged in 11 groups, with 3 aspherical lenses and 1 SLD glass element. This composition effectively suppresses various aberrations, such as astigmatism and field curvature, which cannot be corrected in-camera. Despite the large aperture of F1.4, careful attention has been paid to edge performance and sagittal coma flare has been minimized, allowing the lens to handle challenging night and starry sky scenes with demanding point light sources at maximum aperture. In addition to delivering sharp, color-blurred image quality across the entire image circle, the natural beauty of the large F1.4 bokeh can be enjoyed in any shot.
High-speed autofocus for smooth, comfortable shooting
The SIGMA 50mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is the first lens in the Art line to feature the HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) linear motor. Furthermore, by using a single double-sided aspherical lens as the focusing element, AF is fast and quiet, with strong subject tracking performance despite the large F1.4 aperture. Thanks to this brightness and high-performance AF, the lens can be used in a wide variety of situations, from night photography to capturing moving subjects.
