XA (Extreme Aspherical), Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion), and ED glass elements implemented in an advanced optical design correct distortion, while the Floating Focusing System uses these corrective measures to maintain the highest possible resolution throughout the entire image—even to the edges—at any lens focusing distance.
Shallow depth of field and G Master bokeh effect
The extremely high surface precision of the XA elements, careful control of spherical aberration at the design and manufacturing stages, and the 11-blade circular aperture combine to produce smooth, elegant bokeh in the G Master model that maximizes the creative potential of the shallow depth of field available with this 135mm F1.8 lens.

Floating focus mechanism for close-ups
Although this is a 135mm telephoto lens, a floating focus system effectively controls distortion at any focusing distance to deliver a minimum focusing distance of 0.7 meters, with a maximum magnification of 0.25x for close-ups. Props and other small subjects can be captured with stunning resolution and smooth, beautiful background bokeh.
